We believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and that God has preserved His inspired words, which under His care and providence, have been translated without error in the King James Version. We further believe that the King James Version is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice (Psalm 12:6-7; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21).
God the Father
We believe in God, the Father, an infinite personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and spiritual death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ (Psalm 136; Psalm 147:5; Isaiah 6:3; Jeremiah 33:3; John 3:16; Romans 5:8; Romans 13:1; II Timothy 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; II Peter 1:19-21; I John 4:8).
We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:25; Mark 15:6; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1-3; John 3:16; John 14:3; Romans 3:19-25; Romans 5:6-15; II Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; I Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25, 26).
We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide (John 3:5-6; John 14:16; John 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; Acts 11:15; Romans 8:13; I Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:19-20; I Corinthians 12:13; II Thessalonians 2:13; Titus 3:5).
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons – God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit: that these are equal in every divine perfection, and they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption (Genesis1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; John 1:1-3; II Corinthians 13:14; I John 5:7).
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by choice and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit (John 3:19; Acts 2:38; Acts 4:19; Acts 16:31; Romans 3:10-23; Romans 5:6-12; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-6; Revelation 20:11-14).
We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the well being of his fellowmen; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions, and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ (Acts 24:16; I Corinthians 4:1-2, 10:31; Galatians 5:13; II Peter 3:18; II Timothy 2:20-22).
We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; that therefore Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions and fulfilling its duties free from dictation or patronage of the other (Romans 14:12; Colossians 1:18; Hebrews 4:16).
We believe in a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work, and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world (Matthew 16:16-18; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:41-43; Acts 20:28; I Corinthians 15: 51-58; Ephesians 1:12-14; Ephesians 2:10; Ephesians 5:25-30; Colossians 1:18; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Timothy 3:4-15; Hebrews 13:15).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 8:34-39; Romans 6:3-5; I Corinthians 11:23-26).
We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body; the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked (I Corinthians 15:51-58; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Thessalonians 5:1-9; Revelation 19-22).
In January of 1997, God led Pastor Tim Rasmussen, son of Dr. Roland Rasmussen, to join the staff of Faith Baptist Church as the co-pastor. He has since then become the Senior Pastor of Faith Baptist Church. Pastor Tim has a burden for the San Fernando Valley, where he was born and raised, and has been faithfully serving the Lord in reaching lost souls, discipling new Christians, and helping people reach their full potential for the Lord.
1. God loves you
John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
2. We are all sinners
Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
What is Sin?
1 John 3:4 says, “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”
God’s law is given in the Ten Commandments:
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.
5. Honour thy father and thy mother.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness.
10. Thou shalt not covet [desire that which is unlawful to obtain or possess; desire what belongs to another].
James 2:10 says, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”
3. The penalty for sin is death and hell
Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death…”
Revelation 21:8 says, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”
4. Jesus paid the penalty
Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth [showed] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 6:23 says, “…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
5. Jesus was raised bodily from the grave
Hebrews 7:25 says, “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
If you believe these truths from the Bible and if you want to be set free from sin, call upon the Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to save you. In order to be set free from sin, you must repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 13:3 says, “…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
• Repentance is that voluntary change in the mind of the sinner in which he turns from his sin.
• Belief is that voluntary change in the mind of the sinner in which he turns to Christ and trusts Him as Lord and Saviour.
6. Jesus Christ will save you if you call upon Him
Romans 10:9, 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you ask Christ into your life and trust Him alone as your Saviour, He has promised to give you eternal life.
John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
